Hello Aquila, I was inspired (by YOU!!) this morning to make a giant den! It has everything I need including a sonic screwdriver (I LOVE doctor who, especially Jodie Whittaker and Rose, anyone else?) I also like reading, writing short stories, music and drama!! I absolutely love your magazine!!
John and sister Rebecca
Dear the Aquila Team
You probably get bored of people saying this, but AQUILA IS SOOO AWSOME! GO AQUILA! I don't know how I would survive without you guys (maybe that was a little extreme). I haven't really had time to do your craft ideas but, since the lock down started, I've done quite a few e.g. a book safe, a mouse shooter and my sister created a tardigrade. I really hope you receive this letter because it's my first time writing to you. I would love to see it in one of your fabulous mags! I'm really into manga, please do an issue on manga. Here is a manga drawing I created. Coding and cricket are some of my main hobbies (they're really fun). My first Aquila was Daredevils (May 2016) I think. Bye, this is the end of my letter!
From John age 11 1/2
Hi Aquila. I Love your magazines. I have been getting them since November 2018. I have quite a lot as you can see. My favourite Aquila is probably Fakes and Forgeries, Earth and Evolution. I cannot choose from them. Could you do an issue on marsupials because kangaroos are my favourite animal? All marsupials have pouches, theyíre like pockets that they keep their babies in until theyíre old enough to come out, theyíre so cool. I LOVE reading your magazines, doing gymnastics and art. I am so excited for your next issue, I find your magazines so interesting. I have done one of your recipes, mountain biscuits, they were delicious.
I have been reading your magazine for about a year now and I have loved every minute of it.
In honour of your amazing team I have painted my favourite aquilanorts on some rocks I collected on the beach last Monday (I really hope you like them!)
Recently I have been reading a series of books called murder most unladylike by robin stevens, I would thoroughly recommend these to my fellow aquilanorts as they are smart, interesting and extremely hair raisingly exciting.
My nameís Hugo, Iím 11 years old and I've been receiving your magazine since October 2018. I loved reading about the Orient Express, Dr John Snow, the Antikythera Mechanism and Aristotle. I now everyone says this, but I really think your magazine is the best Iíve ever read. I play the piano, the violin, Tennis and Basketball. My favourite places that Iíve been to is Venice (Italy) and Athens (Greece). My favourite kind of food is Italian food and my favourite band is Imagine Dragons. In this photo, I drew a cartoon saying that even in the confinement, you never get bored whilst reading AQUILA.
Goodbye for now.
From Hugo, age 11.
Please find attached a photograph of Jessie's completed craft from the Discover Dogs issue. She loves Aquila and would be thrilled to see her photo in an issue. BTW the character on the tongue is Japanese for 'pull me'.
This is me and my twin sister Florence, we made the tardigrade from September 2019 issue. We used daddyís old socks 🧦.Iím the one that has long hair and I called my tardigrade Timmy and Florenceís was called Tammy.
From Polly age 9
Hi everybody! My sister Gertrude and I got AQUILA for Christmas and it has been AWESOME so far! I like it how there is a craft in each magazine. My favourite craft so far is the puppy love cards from the May 2020 issue, I have been writing lots of people letters while we have been out of school so its cool that I can send them something fun! I also like the stories, jokes, and fun facts in the magazines, they are so fun to read! I thought the history of hot dogs (also from the May 2020 issue) was really interesting. Speaking of jokes, here's a really funny one that I tell practically EVERYONE I come across:
Q. What do you call a fake noodle?
A. An impasta!
hahahahahahaha! get it? its like impostor but...but... NOODLES! aahhhahahahahaha!
From, Amelia Talley
P.S. my sister said she liked making the alien in the issue about Earth (February 2020) she is 8.

First of all, we really love reading your magazine, especially over breakfast and lunch. We think the Amazon edition is going to be really interesting as we have learnt about the rainforests at school. We loved reading all about Japan, especially about instant noodles and the day in the life of the boy.
Here is a joke for you.
Q: How do you know if you have an elephant hiding under your bed?
A: Your nose will touch the ceiling!
Eric, Basil and Sandy
Hi my name is Hugh. My great uncle who lives in Seattle sends me these Aquila magazines and I really like them. I did the extract DNA experiment with my dad using strawberry's . It was really fun! I live in England in Birmingham. I have an Aquila map about almost everything - well that's what it says!
Like everyone else who reads them, I love your magazines! My favourite issue was probably Fantastic Tales (December 2019) as I absolutely love reading. For school, I needed to make a model Solar System, so I decided to make one out of biscuits! It took the whole afternoon but it was definitely worth it. I think theyíre just delicious! Theyíre also very big. The Sun is literally as big as my head! I used the biggest mixing bowl to cut it out. Some people thought that the asteroid belt was made of rocks, but nope! Everything is 100% edible!

Hello Aquila, thank you for the Ďscience of fireí issue.
Our mum used to be a fire fighter so she is enjoying this issue too.
It took us quite a while to make these Phoenix but they look really good.
I really like your magazine, and every single one that comes in the post is better than the last! The second I get your magazine I instantly turn to Ianís little comic strip, and then check out the mini story. I have to say, my favourite issue would be Japan (2020, June) because I really like kawaii, manga and Japanese culture! I also really, really, REALLY like to read! I also like art (any type), history and being active. Being creative is my biggest hobby, from crocheting to making my own jewellery.
Well, that is all from me! Bye Aquila!!!
From Uzuri, age 12
First I need to say that your magazine is great! Whenever it arrives through the postbox I canít wait to open the envelope.
Secondly, these Ďboom barsí were a mammoth treat (you donít mean the mammoths that were living in the ice age? Ed). The whole family enjoyed them. They were scrumptious!

We love your magazine and have subscribed for about 4 years now. Our Grandfather buys it for us. We lived in Germany for 3 years but now we are back home in Auckland, New Zealand. Our favourite issues were London and Dinosaurs. We would love it if you did one about Pokemon!
We really enjoy the short stories too.
Here we are with a picture of our rocket we made with our Dad - itís from the Space issue. It was mostly successful but didnít fly quite as far as we had hoped!
Keep up the good work guys!
From Ben,12 and Alex,9.
I am called Jack and I am 7 years old. I love learning about robots, it is so interesting. I drew a picture of a robot to show you. I find the puzzles quite challenging and I really like that about the Aquila magazine.
Love Jack x
I really enjoyed making the chair-o-plane and especially designing my own novelty chairs for it.
Thank you, Aquila!
From Mieke, aged 8
I am so excited when Aquila has arrived in my postbox. I really loved the games and pictures section, itís interesting to see what the other readers have been doing and inspired by.
I like reading Aquila before going to bed, cozy in my pjís, next to my mum and dad. I love reading, I think thatís why my grandparents in the UK got me the subscription.
My sister Alejandra is learning to read and she has been very interested in my magazine, specially the crafts, which she loves doing.
We have just spent a week at home with no school and had a chance to do the Sphinx craft, my mum has helped to build the structure and we have enjoyed painting it with bright colours.
Over the Easter holidays I (Franklyn, age 10) and my brother Ruben (age 6) made the paper mache sphinx.
My grandma and Popsie bought me Aquila during homeschool. I love it. I have been learning so much about the Amazon, the industrial revolution and art. I have been learning about the industrial revolution since going back to school and took my magazine in to show. My friends loved seeing it too. I am so excited when it comes though the door!
I made the delicious Boom Bars from the Ice Age issue (January 2021) and took them on my walk to Queenís Wood. They were a lovely energising treat!
I love your magazine so much!
Dear Aquila, I live in England in the cosy corner of Harpenden. I have been reading and collecting your issues for a few months now. I made the pop up plate from the issue 'What Is Art?' and found it turned out much better than I expected it to be. I hope you like it!
I made these Baked Alaskas from your Winter Wild issue and they tasted delicious. I like maths, cats, and recently I have been making a lot of paper teddies for my friends. My favourite past issue of the magazine is Autumn Adventures because it contained a lot of information about animals and hibernation. When I grow up I want to be a vet.
From Alice, age 9
P.S. Pleeease can you do an issue on cats?
P.P.S. or dogs?
P.P.P.S. and maybe animals?
P.P.P.P.S. I love your magazines!
I loved making Baked Alaska!
Hi AQUILA! I love your magazines! It was very hard to choose my favourite issues, but Iíve decided: Pompeii (September 2022), Showstoppers (November 2022), London (July/August 2021) and Japan (June 2020). My first issue of AQUILA was Japan! I liked learning to draw Manga.
In your Showstoppers issue, you had a bit about learning lines off by heart. Well at school, I have done some summer plays and nativities. In last yearís summer play, we did the Twelfth Night and I played Lady Olivia. I think I had 40 lines to learn!!
I have sent a photo of my garlic bread I made from the Pompeii issue and a photo of my favourite crafts and my AQUILA magazines. I live in Cornwall and I swim in the sea!
From Margot Age 10
PS When Iím older I am going to be a doctor and an author!
Hi AQUILA ,
I always get so excited whenever a new issue arrives, and I will turn straight to the Ďover to youí pages to see what Ianís put in. My favourite parts are either the brain feeders or the puzzle pages (when there is one).
From Harriet ,age 10
I love to make things and I love doing Aquila's crafty projects! Last term our school topic was Egyptians, I learnt a lot about pyramids, mummies and Egyptian gods. My favourite thing to make was the Sphinx from papier mache and also making the Phoenix puppet from your Science of fire issue.
My sister Emily and I would like you to make an issue on Gardening and helping the wildlife too, could you please include an interesting project from wood or clay.
Hope you like my photos.
Happy Easter everyone!
I know that everybody who reads your magazine says this, but your magazine is the best in the world (actually, if aliens publish magazines, then the best in the universe)!
My favourite issues were Hong Kong (Feb 2017), Harry Potter (Jun 2017) and Midwinter Feast (Dec 2016). My mamaís friendís daughter gave me all the issues of AQUILA that they had. You may not believe this, but I haveÖ (drumroll please) 98 issues of AQUILA!
The Harry Potter house I am in is Ravenclaw. Is anyone else in Ravenclaw? I know you have already done an issue on Japan, but I would like to see an issue on origami.
Jai Dawsey, age 9.4
P.S Does anyone else like origami?
P P.S The oldest issue of AQUILA that I have is December 2012. That is 2 months after I was born!
P P P. S I made the mountain cookies from the Fantastic Tales issue and they were delicious!

We love your magazine, especially all the crafting activities. What I liked about the sun t shirt was that it was so cool that the sun could make the pattern on it.
I hope you like our photo of me and my brother.
PS Your magazines are great!
From Esme and her brother Jonah
I love reading the magazine and especially liked the time travel one. That's why me and my sister made this time travel box. I'm from Melbourne, Australia.
Freddie absolutely loved this monthís edition of Aquila and had great fun making the Panis Garlicatus with his grandfather.
I know everybody says this (and that) (and that) (and sometimes even that) (occasionally even that) but I LOOOVE your magazines! I got my first ever Aquila mag December 2019, as a Christmas present from my uncle and I've had them ever since. My favourite issues are 100% 'The Moon' and 'Creative Coding' as I really like space and coding. I recently made the Panis Garlicatus (That's me with it in the picture, if you haven't already worked that out) and loved it almost as much as I love Aquila! (Shout out to all those foodies out there) When the mag arrives every month, I start reading it and it's all read! Somebody said once about how quickly they read the issues and how once every week would be good. I disagree, however, as eventually there would be too many mags (TOO many means not enough space to even read them) in a year and drama would proceed. Now, this letter is getting very long and I'm using more space just saying this, but Bye for now!
8 and 3 quarters
AQUILA, this is the second letter I have written to you. I LOVE AQUILA and started reading in October 2021. My favorite pages are the Brainfeeders and Over To You (because of Ian).
P.S.I LOVE AQUILA !
P.P.S. Could you do an issue of History Of Science?
P.P.P.S. And one on the fastest running animals?
P.P.P.P.S. Does anyone else play Pokťmon Go?
P.P.P.P.P.S. I made the mushroom cupcakes from the chocolate issue! They were delicious!!! Here is a photo of them!
P.P.P.P.P.P.S. Has anyone else read Dave the Unicorn or Chicken Squad? Theyíre so silly!
I am your biggest fan and I love Aquila so much. Iíve been collecting Aquila magazines, and now I have all of them. I love reading them so much.
I love drawing so I did the Ancient Greece picture based on the Ancient Greece magazine. I hope you like my drawing.
I hope you can do new issues on owls and reading.
Love, Tamara, age 9, from London, UK
P.S. my mum is from Kazakhstan and my dad is from Italy. Can you please do an issue on these two countries Aquila? I would be so happy.
I really enjoyed making the time machine.I loved all the measuring.
I travelled forward to 2026. My brother Logan is learning to drive in a Lamborghini. He is 17 years old. He is a terrible driver.
Oliver from South Wales
Hi Aquila! I am from Huntsville Alabama, USA, and I love space, so the Mysterious Maths issue was definitely one of my favorites! I figured out the murder mystery in that issue and here is what I think happened: Penelope was in love with Hugo, but Hugo only wanted her for her money. He wrote the message "Hugo and Penelope forever" on the tree to lead Penelope on, and that's how he cut his finger. Then Penelope danced happily to her room because she was in love. That's when Agatha pushed her out the window. Since Penelope was the heiress of a shoe empire, Agatha used this murder for her story The Cinderella Murders. Then, Hugo went to Penelope's room and realized that she had been killed by Agatha. He took a picture of the scene and wrote a letter to Agatha. Agatha killed Hugo too because he knew too much, and that was who Greta found in the courtyard. I love these mysteries so please do more of them! My mom and I also made the redshift raisin cakes and they were amazing!
I really enjoy reading your magazines because they have so many facts! My favourites are Evolution (January 2020) and Brilliant Birds (February 2022). I like watching birds on our bird feeder and I really love the ocean and all its creatures.
Here's a picture of me and my cat Esme. She's very furry and cute and sometimes sleeps on my bed with me.
I looooove your mags they are so amazing!
Anyway, I went over to fellow aquilanaut, Juno's house and we made my little sister a dress and it looks so nice on her.
Oh, and I got water-colour paints for Christmas, and I painted a landscape, and I am really pleased with it!
Love Coco Renť
P.S. My brother said can you do an issue on football?
Iím Connor from St Ives, NSW, and your mag is my favourite of all the magazines I have read, my favourite parts being puzzle sections and the historical stories. Iíve been receiving your magazine for about 6 years now, though it was my sister who was originally subscribed to your mag. One of my favourite issues was Night At The Movies, which inspired me to do a PIP(Personal Interest Project) about the history of animation. I once brought the What Is Art? issue into school and my class and I figured out The Attack Of The Vindaloo Vandal, which everyone LOVED. Iím not sure if youíve done one yet, but Iíd love to see a Thomas Edison issue. This is my cover design for a potential Albert Einstein issue, something else Iíd really love. I hope you like it!
P.S Aoife I also love Skullduggery Pleasant!!!
Hi Aquila, I had lots of fun making my pecking hen. I also showed my classmates at school!!! I wonder what the next issue is?
P.S Would you like to hear a joke?
Question: What do you do when a bird is in front of you?
Answer:You squawk around it!
I love reading through a new magazine when it arrives and particularly love the illustrations. I often have a go at making something within the magazine and this month I decided to have a go at the Perfect Pecking Hen during half term. Iím so pleased with her and canít wait to show it to all my friends!
Thank you for the pecking hen instructions, I had fun making mine!
I really like your magazines and I love maths so I'm very excited for next month!
From Benjamin (age 8 2/3)
Meet my Marvellous moving matchbot called Bob. He has a lovely cupboard in his tummy
I made him in the school hols with my Grandad and Grandma. Hope you like himÖ..
P.S I love Aquila
I LOVE AQUILA! I have been subscribed to AQUILA since April 2021, so I am still quite new. However, whenever AQUILA arrives at my doorstep, I carefully tear off the envelope and I will read for an hour or two. Not many people mention this, but I love Edís little comments, they make the magazine even funnier! I also have a few magazine suggestions, maybe a Rabbits issue? I of course love Harry Potter and Star Wars and it would be cool to see issues about those topics.
Bye for now,
Kaan Au Askar
P.S I look forward to the next issue!
